I’m writing this just as I’m about to leave on the long drive from Naples to Boston. I’ll be competing in the Cape Cod Open, The New England Open and the Massachusetts Open. The latter I must qualify for next Wednesday 24th.
I continued my return to competition this week where I played the US Open local qualifying and a 2 day Minor League Tour event. The ML Tour event was a lot of fun as it was hosted at PGA National where the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic is hosted every year. It’s rated as one of the toughest stops on tour and features the ‘Bear Trap’ – a tough finishing stretch of holes. I shot 73, 73 and finished T5th. I played great golf both days and had it a few under in both rounds into the back 9. However I dropped some shots coming in which cost me competing for the win. Very positive event for me.
The US Open Q I shot 75 and missed qualification by 4. Very disappointing day. On hole 3 a disagreement with a rules official delayed our group and it followed in me having two bad holes. I played great golf thereafter and gave myself 8 birdie chances on the back 9 but the putts didn’t drop and I couldn’t recover the round. Maybe the incident was the cause of the poor holes maybe it wasn’t but most importantly it turned out I was correct and the official was wrong!! 😁
My game is right there now, I’m motivated and it’s just about putting it all together and the top results will follow soon. Patience and hard work !
Thanks for your support as always and I’ll touch base from Boston in a couple of weeks!
